Painting is more than just a pastime; it's an essential part of who I am, deeply connected to my earliest memories and the traditions of my family. Growing up, I was surrounded by creativity, watching my mother, aunties, uncles, and cousins craft art by drawing stories in the sand or painting their bodies for ceremonies. I remember feeling safe and loved, nestled in my mother's lap under the gum trees, listening to her sing our Anmatyerr songlines as her hands danced in the red desert soil. Those precious moments, the tactile sensation of sand and ochre on my skin, profoundly shaped my creative spirit.

When I began attending a western school, I discovered the joy of paint and brushes. My artistic journey started with dreaming dot paintings, and I proudly sold my first piece in 1999. Over time, my art evolved into vibrant, fictional landscapes—my "paradise places"—inspired by childhood memories and the natural beauty surrounding me, from the vast desert to the tranquil sea.

As a grandmother now, my paintings also tell stories of love, loss, and the intense passion I feel for my family and culture. I explore the joys and challenges of being a grandmother, delve into the process of healing from trauma, and celebrate the incredible power of love to overcome pain. Painting provides me with a way to process grief, cherish life's beautiful moments, and express my innermost feelings. I am passionate about using art as a healing tool, not only for myself but also for others who may find solace and inspiration in my work.

But painting is also about pure, unadulterated fun. I love experimenting with different colors and forms, letting my imagination soar, and simply reveling in the creative process. With each brushstroke, I move further down the path of healing and self-expression. My dream is to share my art and music with the world, spreading messages of hope, resilience, and cultural connection. Every painting I create is a unique masterpiece—a one-of-a-kind piece that carries my story, my laughter, my tears, and, above all, my love.
